United We Read

Give students an opportunity to grow their love of reading by volunteering for United We Read!

About United We Read

Empowering Young Readers in the Lubbock Community

United We Read is a partnership started with Lubbock County school districts to encourage 2nd-grade students to engage in active reading and to prepare them for 3rd grade. Every year, our volunteers read to our students, guide them through a craft, and give them a copy of the book so they can practice their reading skills at home.

We want to encourage parents and caregivers to help their students establish early reading skills so they can succeed academically for years to come.

VOlunteer for United We Read

United We Read is a fun way for students to stay engaged in reading. We need volunteers to help us organize and provide thousands of students with books and crafts!

Read to Students

Volunteers will read a children's book to 2nd grade classrooms across the LISD district to encourage reading.

Prepare Crafts

We prepare a craft that matches the theme of the book to keep students interested and engaged in the story.
