On Friday, volunteers in Lubbock Area United Way’s Loaned Executive program led service projects across the city for United Way’s annual Day of Caring.

In total, 54 individuals representing 49 local businesses were involved.

Service projects will support United Way’s Community Partners Catholic Charities, Early Learning Centers of Lubbock, Literacy Lubbock, the Salvation Army, the Volunteer Center of Lubbock, and the YWCA of Lubbock. Media are invited to attend events scheduled from 9:15 to 11:30 at the following locations:

Lubbock Area United Way 2021 Loaned Executive Chair Tyler Young with Texas Tech Credit Union said, “As Loaned Executives, our primary role is to help with United Way’s Annual Campaign. But what many of the volunteers realize through Day of Caring is that the purpose of the campaign is much bigger than the money given. It is about spreading a message of hope throughout our community.”

United Way’s Loaned Executive Program is one of the most comprehensive management and leadership training programs in Lubbock. More than 1,500 individuals have gone through the program since it began in 1968. Many of them have gone on to top management positions within their companies.

Through the program corporations and small businesses “loan” employees to United Way on a part-time basis to act as community spokespersons for United Way’s Annual Campaign and to assist other businesses with their United Way workplace campaigns. Each year they participate in a Day of Caring project benefitting hundreds of individuals in our community.

Together we can build a better future. Donate today!
